AUGUST2006

Hi: As I write this I have just returned from the CORSA Convention in Buffalo. That was a busy and very interesting week. It will probably take me two weeks just to catch my breath. The CORSA Convention can be fun, what with meeting up with old friends and making new. With all the activity and running around it is also tiring. I guess this year’s was a success on most fronts. At any rate, Cindy and I had a really good time.

There weren’t many members of the Capital District Corvair Club at the Convention, but we all got together from time to time ad we all sat together at the Banquet. The CDCC showed well at the NECC time trials at Mosport the day before the convention as Bruce Carlton set fast time for Corvairs. At the Convention, Steve and Sherri Ruggles showed everyone CDCC can make a good showing by scoring 3rd place, in their class, in the Economy run and 5th place, in their class, in the Rally. I want to congratulate Bruce and the Ruggles for the great job they did and for letting everyone know that CDCC is alive and well.

Looking ahead to the August Summer Picnic and meeting at Thatcher Park on Sunday the 20th. The picnic is a pot-luck style affair. Cindy and I will be bringing hotdogs, hamburgers and rolls, as well as charcoal, some paper plates, cups, and napkins. That leaves a lot of room for any dish you would like to bring. When you know that you are coming and what you will be bringing, contact Cindy Bassett and let her know. She will try to keep things sorted out and let you know if we are getting too much of any one thing. So far we haven’t heard from anyone. Come-on and give us a call (518) 272-2502. The picnic has always been a good time, so don’t miss it.

Bob Addis has offered to lead a tour through the Helderbergs before the picnic. Bob will take the tour out at about 11 AM. Cindy and I will get there early to lock in our spot, and I will park my car with the club banner over the windshield so everyone can find us.
