A Word From The President |

It's here, 2004, but before I can start anything new for this year I need to recap 2003. The first thing I need to do is thank all who have helped with the Capital District Corvair Club in 2003. I know that I will forget someone, so if I have left you out, please forgive me. I want to thank Ray Zabinski for all the years he has spent as Editor of our news letter. I know that putting the newsletter together is a thankless job, but Ray I, and I’m sure all of us appreciate all you have done. Ray also helps all who ask with any and all corvair problems, from giving free technical advice to doing many large and small mechanical jobs. Thanks Ray. While I am talking about our Editor I want to thank Peter Callesano and Walt Newell, for volunteering to be co-editors for 2004. Next, I want to acknowledge Steve Ruggles. Steve has been our Treasurer for longer than I have been a member. Steve keeps track of our finances and kept a member list of all paid members. Steve is a good friend to our club and will never lead us down the wrong path. Thanks Steve for sticking with us and staying on as treasurer for another year. That brings us to Peter Callesano, who took over the job as Secretary last year and is continuing for this year. As luck would have it Peter started just as Kris had a major family tragedy and would not have been able to carry out the secretaries duties last year. Peter jumped in and took over with little help. Peter shows allegiance to our club by not only holding the office of Secretary, but also functions as co-editor of our newsletter. Thanks Peter, we could use a lot more like you. Now for Walt Newell, Walt has served as President, Vice president last year and this year he will be Vice president and co-editor. Walt is a great friend of the Corvair, and helps anyone who asks with any problems. Walt is a cornerstone of the Capital District Corvair Club. Walt, thanks for all you do. I also want to thank all of you who helped out with our monthly meetings. Bob Addis for the trip in April, to Howe Caverns and the outing in October, to the car show at Mills Mansion. Both trips were kind of wet, but Bob went all out to make them memorable. Walt Newell for giving us a place to meet in June at Hildene and September at Bennington. Now for Peter Callesano. He and Carol hosted the summer picnic, at their home in July and then followed that up by setting up our August meeting at PJ’s BBQ (my favorite). And let’s not forget Bob and Arlene Dalrymple who once again hosted a great Christmas party at their home. I can’t put 2003 behind without remembering the passing of Harold Magida. Harold left a hole in our club that may never be filled. Now for 2004, our first meeting should be in February, but we have no place or time yet (stay tuned, more info coming). As a matter of fact the only meetings secured are June at Hildene, September at Bennington, and October at Mills Mansion. So if anyone would like to help with a monthly meeting let Peter, Walt or I know what you would like to do. That’s all I have for this month, so as always keep the shiny side up. |
