A Word From The President |

Hi everybody! Here we are back from the 2004 national convention, and I will say I for one had a great time. It was great that Steve and Sherri Ruggles could make it down for part of the convention (its always good to have friends close by). For you who didn't know Steve and Sherri got second place, in their class, in the fuel economy run. This year's convention was bigger then ever. It started out with a huge parade the first night, that ended on Main Street with all the Corvairs parked along the streets of downtown. It was an unbelievable crowd that showed up to see all of our cars. The next day was the Car Display and Concours, it would blow your mind to see so many Corvairs from all over the country, even from Mexico, all in one place at one time. I also got to navigate in both the Rally and the Fuel Economy Run, again this year, with Dave Todd from the New Hampshire club (and we did quite well). If I sound all charged up, it's because I am. I have to get my head back out of the clouds and see what we have coming up. Seeing this is July and we are now well in to summer, it's time for the Capital District Corvair Club's annual picnic. This year, as last, the picnic will be at the Callesano's Home. Peter and Carol have again invited us back for a poolside happening. Don't forget to call Peter and Carol and let them know you are coming, and what dish you would like to bring and share. At this time we still have no meeting planned for the month of August. So if there is something you would like to plan for a club get-together jump in and say so. We are always looking for new ideas. If nothing comes up for August, the next meeting will be in September at the Car Show in Bennington. As I think about September I want to remind you that this year there will be a Corvair show at Clarks, it will be Saturday the 18th. With July here and the summer in full swing, it's time to get the corvair out and show it off. Take it to a cruise night, go to a car show, or just go out for a ride and get ice-cream. It really doesn't matter what you do as long as you have a good time and show the world your corvair. You will be surprised by how many times you will get a thumbs-up from the other cars, and when you are stopped many will want to talk to you about your car. So be an ambassador of the old car hobby and take that corvair out tonight.
Well that's it from my small part of the world. Hope to see you all at the picnic. Remember "KEEP THE SHINY SIDE UP".
