The headline should read “Corvair convertibles dominate PJ’s Cruise-in”. On Friday evening June 24th the corvairs invaded PJ’s Bar-B-Q, the count was nine, all convertibles, and eight from the Capital District Corvair Club. It was a good night for the Corvairs as they sat center stage. For all who came, thank-you for the good time and for all that missed out, you really did miss out. The weather and the food were good, and the company great.

The next meeting will be our Summer Picnic, at Thatcher Park, on July 24th. This is a pot luck type picnic, where everyone brings something, and we all go away full and happy. The picnic will start as soon as we start to arrive. Cindy and I will try to get there early and secure a spot. We will leave a corvair in sight of the main road so everyone can find us. We will start cooking at about 12 noon. Please call Cindy Bassett at (518) 272-2502 and let her know who will be coming and what you plan on bringing. Hope we have some good weather.

For August, Bob Addis is planning a tour through Schoharie County. Bob is very familiar with this part of the country and always takes us to interesting places. Be sure to mark this on your calendar as we will be sure to have a good time. And if you don’t want to, or can’t, bring a Corvair, you can always bring a boiler, just come.

With July here, I hope we are all getting the Corvairs out and showing them off. You have to remember with all Corvairs being thirty-seven or more years old, there are a lot of people out there that have no idea what they are. Part of the purpose of our club is to show the cars and help people understand what they are and how they operate. So get out and show that Corvair off.
