A Word From The President

March is here and spring will be right on its heels. This time of year is always hard on me. I’m planning my summer car show schedule and looking for some good weather so I can get one of my Corvairs out and start rubbing on it. As the days get longer and the sun gets higher I get more and more antsy. Yet without fail, we get a couple of good days followed by bad days that are rainy and cold or snowy and cold. No matter how bad I want to get a car out, Mother Nature seems to have other ideas.

With spring in mind, I want to call this month’s meeting “Welcome to Spring”. Maybe with a day of checking out the RPI model railroad club display and a nice meal with friends it will feel like spring has finally come. The March and April meetings have been combined into one on April 3rd. Steve and Sherri Ruggles have arranged for a trip to see the model railroad at RPI (see directions in this newsletter) and dinner at Fresno’s in Troy. There is a charge (I think it’s $7 each) for the railroad display, so anyone who wishes to pass on RPI could still meet us at Fresno’s at about 3PM.

With spring getting close I have started making my car show plans for this summer. I have signed up for Rhinebeck and Saratoga for May. Hildene for June and on Monday after Hildene we are leaving for Lexington and the CORSA Convention. July finds us signed up for the Syracuse Nationals. Then In September we signed up for the Adirondack Nationals at Lake George and are planning to go both Clarks Corvairs and Bennington the next week. That what’s on the list for now and summer hasn’t even come close yet.

If any other members are coming to The CORSA Convention please try to keep in touch, and if you are going to the Banquet we will try and get seating together

There is one more thing I would like to touch on this month. Sarah Jones, president of CORSA, has challenged all the chapters to make a donation to the Frank Winchell Memorial Corvair Scholarship fund, and I think we should see if we can find our way clear to make a donation. This will be part of our discussion at this month’s meeting. Hope to see all there.

Well, that’s it from here. Remember to keep the shiny side up.
