November 2005

A Word From The President

“November”, the month when you can feel winter coming up on you. It’s time to get your Corvair ready for the long winter months. I always change the oil and filter, check all the fluids, inspect the brakes, and clean the inside and outside before putting it in storage. If I see anything wrong, I try to fix it before storage, but if I can’t, I can set a plan into motion to take care of it as soon as I get it back out of storage. If you keep your Corvair at home in your garage, don’t forget to service it now so it will be ready to go in the spring.

Last month at our October trip to Staatsburg we had a small turn out. I think that some of you stayed home, thinking the weather would be bad; I even had second thoughts about it, but the day turned out nice, although a little cool. The grounds were in good shape and a good number of cars showed up. The ride down and back went well with no rain and quite a bit of sunshine. The day finished off with a good meal and small meeting at the Four Brothers.

This month’s meeting will be held at Fresno’s in Troy. The meeting will be held November 20th at 2 PM. For those who don’t know where Fresno’s is; it is located on corner of River and Federal Streets at the end of the Green Island Bridge. Address 377 River Street, Troy.

There are detailed directions in the Future Events entry for November.

This month meeting will be a chance to plan for the Christmas Party, December 11th. Please call Kris Tullock at 399-0666, or email at KittyKatKris@msn.com, to let her know what food dish you plan to bring to the Christmas party.

Well that’s all I have for now so until next time, remember “Keep The Shiny Side Up”. Harold

The message below was received by me a few days ago and is meant for all:

Another successful CORSA convention has come to a close and we now begin to count down the months until next year’s event here in Buffalo/Niagara. Its success will be dependent on all of us locals being involved as more then just participants. I can attest to the satisfaction of being a part of a successful event and can assure you it far outshines the experience of just coming along for the ride.

In the months to come, 4 Clubs representatives will be signing up volunteers to help out with particular events. I invite you to become a part of this adventure and sign up to assist in an event you will not be participating in. For instance, I never show my car so I would be a good candidate for helping with the car display or concourse. And by the way, people are needed for many things besides judging.

Many serious concourse participants do not compete in the Rally, Econorun or Autocross and few people compete in all 3. (My car in the econorun, right.)

Everyone can join in to these events by helping with the logistics of actually running the event. (I have often enjoyed helping more than participating as a competitor!) Maybe you’re a friendly person and hospitality is your bag. What ever your interest please throw in your hat. The choice of event and activity is up to you! Just find your friendly 4 Clubs representative and become part of the festivities.

Thanks, Chuck Facklam and the 2006 CORSA Convention Committee
