October 2005

A Word From The President

With September over and October here the shows and cruise-ins are just about done. We had a good summer with lots of warm weather and a busy show season. As usual, I didn’t get all my home projects done, I guess I spent too much time out with the Corvairs again.

This year at the Bennington car show we had a large number of Corvairs, and half of them came from the Capital District Corvair Club, Inc. And let me congratulate Steve Adams for his second place trophy in our class (way to go).

With October here it’s time to make our fall trip to Mills Mansion, for the Gathering of Old Cars. We will meet this year at the Citgo station, just east of I90 exit 11E, on Rt. 9 & 20, in East Greenbush, at 9:15. We will plan on leaving at 9:30 for a colorful fall trip to Staatsburg. Once there we will enjoy the old cars and the company until about 2:00, when we will leave and drive back to Valatie, and dinner at the Four Brothers. For anyone who did not want to go to the Gathering of Old Cars, you can meet us at the Four Brothers for Dinner and a meeting. This is normally a nice trip and I highly recommend it.

I can’t talk about October without thinking that this is the month that in 1959 the world was introduced to the Corvair. Here we are 46 years later still trying to show people what a great little car it was and still is.

I guess that about does it from here, so until next time “Keep The Shiny Side Up”.

Harold
