Chapter # 336

Suncoast Corvairs became the first Florida CORSA Chapter in l974. CORSA had formed in l970 and by 1973 there were enough members in Florida to hold an organizational meeting.

The first meeting was held on October 7, 1973 at Gary Meredith's home in Orlando. Jon Ramer of Orlando and Scotty Smathers of Jacksonville were also responsible for organizing this meeting.

The Tampa Bay area seemed to have the greatest concentration of Corvair owners and after a couple of meetings at Joe Brown's in Plant City, the Suncoast Corvair Club was formed with Tom Salmons as its first president.

Our Mission is to encourage the ownership, operation and preservation of the Corvair automobile; to encourage, arrange and regulate planned trips, events and exhibitions for the members of Suncoast Corvairs; to encourage safe and sportsmanlike conduct on the public highways; and to develop technical information relevant to any of these purposes.
