On Saturday, February 23, we held our 2nd annual chili cook-off. We had 12 excellent chili recipes to sample along with a couple of cornbread recipes and a few desserts. The winner of the best chili was Dave Dykwell and the best cornbread went to Mary Ridderman. They each received an Applebee’s gift card. While we did not give a prize for best dessert, we still took a poll and the “winner” was Dan Konkle for his cookies and cream dessert. After we finished stuffing ourselves, we held a drawing for various prizes including Clark’s gift certificates, fan belts, oil filters (with oil), and Corvair model cars. There was even carpet for an early model sedan and a CORSA ashtray. After all the feasting and prizes, Dave Dykwell set up some balloon races. This involved putting a straw on the “race track” and taping a balloon to it to provide the “motor”. Look for a couple of pictures in this newsletter and some video on the club website. Thank you’s go out to Clark’s Corvair Parts, Steve Ridderman for donating the oil and Dave Dykwell for providing the entertainment. A special thank you goes out to Roger Morgan from Rockford Ambulance for letting us use the community room at no charge. Below are some pictures from the day. I should have some videos posted soon.
