On February 6, 2010, Ryan Counterman, Dan Konkle and Steve Ridderman took Ratso and Sparky up to Turk Lake just north of Greenville to run some laps on the ice.  The event was presented by the Furrin Group so there were a lot of Volvos, Suburus, Volkswagons, etc. running laps.  One person even had their Pontiac minivan out there.

The plan was to have Ryan and Steve run in Sparky and Dan run in Ratso.  After the practice laps, the class that the Corvairs were in was going to run second but the organizers wanted to leave the cars on the ice.  When we returned to Sparky, the left front wheel was froze up due to the packed snow in the brake drum.  This forced plan B -- Steve and Dan would run in Ratso and Ryan would run in his brother's Suburu.  Each person took two of their three allotted runs and they decided to call it a day.  No land speed records were broken but everyone had fun including spectators John Koning and Dave & Cheryl Ziebarth.
