On May 9 a few of us from the West Michigan Corvair
Club got together for the Spring Dust-off. The weather wasn't
necessarily cooperating, but that didn't stop us. We started out
in Byron Center with four Corvairs (Ryan Counterman w/ fiancee Carolyn,
Doug Lectka, Rob & Linda Van Sledright, and Dave Ziebarth) and a water
pumper (Dan Konkle who was going to drive his Triumph but the threat of
rain and the lack of a top put the kabosh on that). We then drove
down U.S. 131 to Kalamazoo where a couple more Corvairs were waiting
(Steve Ridderman and Paul Adams). John Koning managed to catch up
to us to make it total of seven Corvairs.

Ryan led the group on a nice drive
through Schoolcraft and east to the Branch County Fairgrounds in
Coldwater. Despite the weather, there was a fairly good turnout of
cars and parts vendors (nothing Corvair related though). By
coincidence, we did park next to another Corvar -- an early model --
from Dewitt.

After a tour of the grounds, we caught up
to WMCC member Steve Turner who brought along his 1961 wagon. When
we finally had enough of the cold and wet, we retreated to a local
establishment, the Willow bar, to have lunch. After that everyone
went their separate way.
