| Welcome to Corvairs Northwest (CNW), a group of over 100 Corvair enthusiasts located in the central Puget Sound region of Washington State in the greater Seattle area. We are dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the Chevrolet Corvair in all of its forms. There are several charter members active in the club, which formed in the early 1970s but we are also making an effort to recruit and nurture as many younger members as possible. As with all classic car clubs, our survival and the continued survival of the cars themselves is tied to interest generated among younger people. After all, we are merely temporary stewards of these unique automobiles. If you are under 25 and interested in the Corvair please contact CNW now, we’d like your input and suggestions on how to improve CNW, attract more people like you and make it a better club for all members. | ||
| Corvair enthusiasts approach the cars from many different angles and all are welcome at Corvairs Northwest. If you have an interest in the Corvair as an engineering artifact, a project for you and your son or daughter, strictly stock or highly modified V8, a concours show car, a weekend driver or simply a way to get from point A to point B every day you are welcome at CNW. Our common bond is the Corvair, regardless of the way one chooses to use the car. | ||
| Corvairs Northwest is an active group if you seek the camaraderie of fellow car enthusiasts. We meet monthly on every third Wednesday (except December) at the Sizzler restaurant located at 16615 Southcenter Pkwy near the junction of I-5 and I-405 in Tukwila, WA. Please join us for dinner at 6:30pm; the meeting will start at 7:30pm. Our biggest event of the year is the annual Discontinued and Orphan Car Show; in 2007 it was held on August 6 at the Triple XXX Drive-in where 31 Corvairs (or related) and 45 other classics were displayed on the show field. We have several club driving events every year: the Fall Colors Cruise, the Corsanostra Rally and a Mystery Cruise or two. If you don’t know what a Slo-Drag race is be sure to watch for this pulse-pounding event on the CNW calendar. All Corvair owners are encouraged to attend the many regional car shows that are held from March to October throughout western Washington and beyond, club staff provides the membership with dates and locations for these shows. Annually, in December we have a club holiday party. Everyone is welcome at all CNW events. | ||
| We also support and work with other regional Corvair clubs. Regional events include Corvairitis Treatment Day (BC, Canada), the Northwest Corvair Econo-Run (Oregon in 2007), Corvair Roundup (Boisie, ID), Corvair College (Vancouver, BC) and the Corvair Affair Soiree and Car Show (Lynden, WA). Out of town events often result in a Corvair caravan from the Seattle area, these are great fun! Details on most all of these activities can be found in the events calendar on this website. And we are always open to new ideas for group activities. | ||
| If you are on the market for a Corvair or need technical advice regarding your car, membership in Corvairs Northwest is for you. Twice a year we have organized Tune-up Days where you are invited to bring your Corvair to a professional shop with heavy tools and a lift and work on the car yourself. Sunset Chevrolet in Sumner, WA generously invites the club into their shop for one of these events and the other shop is provided by a CNW member. There are many skilled Corvair specialists in the club who are ready to offer assistance and advice as needed. We even have the “Corvair Calvary” which can be dispatched to your location to provide on-site mechanical aid. | ||
| Another benefit to membership in Corvairs Northwest is the monthly newsletter, Vairiety. In 2006 and again in 2007 The Vair-iety was awarded the prestigious Best Club Newsletter Award at CORSA national convention. This is a full color newsletter that features articles on club events, members and their Corvairs, technical topics, classified ads and more. | ||
