Car Classes and Rules
for Time Trials.
NECC uses the following car
classification system at time trials. From time to time, NECC revises car classification
rules to promote safety, fairness, and consistency with rules promulgated by
the Corvair Society of America and other motorsport clubs.
Please be aware that the car
classes described below are subject to change.
1. Water Pumper (A general
class for all non-Corvairs)
2. Street Stock Corvair (Minor updates allowed).
3. Improved Stock Corvair (Street-legal, with major mods).
4. Street Modified Corvair (Race-prepared, street-legal).
5. Competition Corvair (Race-prepared, not street-legal).
6. Specialty-1 Corvair (Corvairs with non-Corvair engines).
7. Specialty-2 Corvair (Corvair engines in non-Corvair bodies).
8. Specialty-3 Corvair (Extreme Engineering)
Detailed rules govern the
classification of each car. If you are driving a Corvair, your car's class
will depend on its carburetion, ignition, exhaust system, tires, wheels,
steering, suspension, bodywork and other factors.
Please be aware that our
rules for time trials cover not only the car classification system, but also
driving rules and tech inspection.

Car Classes and Rules
for Car Shows.
1. Stock Corvair
(Factory-original cars).
2. Modified Corvair (Cars with six or more alterations).
3. Custom Corvair (V8 Corvairs, racing Corvairs, etc.).
4. Daily Driver Corvair
(Used as regular tranportation).
Depending on the number of entrants, the NECC event director may divide or
combine any of the above classes for purposes of awarding trophies.

Car Classes & Rules for Drag
Racing.
Because drag racing is so much different than
running time trials on a sports car track, we've written special rules just
for drag racing. The drag racing rules include special car classes, tech
inspection rules, and a basic itinerary explaining the manner in which we
conduct drag racing events.
For a copy of our drag racing rules, please use the Hot Links at the bottom of this
page.

Note: NECC
uses transponders for timing at some but not all sports car tracks.
Typically, we use stop watch timing for our time trials. If the
registration package is silent about timing methods, then you can assume
we'll be using stop watches.
