What are the Ultra Van Tech Tips?
The Ultra Van Tech Tips is a computer file document containing over
25 years of tech tips specific to the Ultra Van vehicle. These tips have
been compiled over the years by the Ultra Van Club and span 1966 through
1990.
Norm Helmkay from the Ultra Van Club and Cris Estanislao (a "plain"
Corvair owner) decided to experiment with an electronic reference of these
tips in a common computer platform format. The result is a 2.3 MB file
that represents 25 years of Ultra Van tech tips in an easily viewable Portable
Document File (PDF) format. The file contains 22 chapters of organized,
searchable topics in 505 pages.
Since its original release in 1997, this
file has been downloaded by hundreds of people from Cris' website, but
now this file has "graduated" to the CORSA website for even greater exposure.
This file is provided free to the Ultra Van and Corvair communities, and
the contents are under copyright by the Ultra Van Motor Coach Club Incorporated.
Other restrictions from CORSA may also apply.
What do I need to use this file?
The Ultra Van Tech Tips file is in Adobe's Acrobat PDF format. You
must have Adobe's Acrobat Reader application (version 3.0 or later) installed
on your computer to use this PDF file. Acrobat
Reader is available free for nearly any computer operating system,
including, but not limited to, Windows, Macintosh, Unix, and Linux. Once
you have the proper Acrobat Reader program, you may download the file to
your computer and view/navigate/print the file as you wish.

The Ultra Van Tech Tips file (currently at version 1.1) is downloadable
in three formats: 1) uncompressed PDF format in order to be accessible
to the widest audience of operating systems, 2) Windows-only compressed,
self-unzipping format, 3) Macintosh-only compressed, self-extracting format.
If you are a Windows or Macintosh user, please choose the appropriate compressed
file for faster download times. If you use an alternative operating system,
or if you are having trouble unzipping the compressed file, please choose
the uncompressed file.
I'm having trouble downloading or using the file...

However, one common problem with using this file is that early versions
of Acrobat Reader will not let you open the file. You must have version
3.0 or later to open the file (go to the menu pick "Help", then "About
Acrobat Reader..." to see the version number).
