1966 Corsa Coupe Crown Conversion

 

Al bought his Corvair from a CORSA Ontario member in 1987. It was his daily driver, it used to be black with Camaro 15" rally spokes. 1966 Corsa As marriage approached and a house buy was in the picture, Al was forced to sell his Vair in 1991 and the future wife even sold her 66 Corsa convertible, but they kept the Vette, so life wasn't too unbearable!

The buyer, Bill Barkwell, did some much needed work on the car, including the addition of front disc brakes. After several years of ownership, Bill decided in 1994 to sell the V8 Vair. As luck would have it, Al was selling his Corvette. One thing led to another and the V8 Vair ended up happily, back in Al's garage.  Driver Side View Now you know the rest of the story!

Al swapped out the wheels for some big 16" Vette wheels Passenger Side View and ended up removing the disc brakes as they would not work properly. After he sold them he figured out what the problem was.

In 1996 the car was painted 88 Camaro IROC blue. Camaro IROC Blue Paint

The engine is a 327 C.I. made from a 1969 350 block by adding the 327 crank and rods, with double hump heads. Engine A 600 CFM Holley carburetor supplies the fuel mixture and custom headers do the exhaust duties. Horsepower is around 300.

Suspension is Crown springs, Crown sway bars with a four speed and a 4 spider posi differential and a 3:27 gear set. The brakes are stock drums but front disc brakes are still on the list.

The interior has a set of 1995 Pontiac Sunfire seats and a nice tele wood steering wheel. Interior  There is also a roll cage with a Plexiglas bulkhead between the driver and the engine compartment. The front engine cover is a removable custom made aluminum piece.
