1965 Monza SuperVair

Update!

Things have progressed on the Supervair, it has been running.

The cooling system is now complete as can be seen here. Cooling System The Howe dual pass radiator now sports an aluminum overflow tank plumbed with AN fittings and a Spal puller fan setup with one 16" and two 6" fans.

The custom 17  gallon JAZ  fuel cell and racing style filler neck  look at home in the trunk area positioned between the inner fender louvers. JAZ fuel cell This gives the hot air from the radiator a low pressure place to exit.

The engine is a Brodex 506 big block Chevy with Brodex heads and intake manifold topped off with a 1000 CFM Thermo Quad carb. Inside, the valve train has a stud girdle and roller rockers with a custom Isky cam. Intake Manifold The cam has a split profile of 248 intake and 250 exhaust @ .050" lift with a 114 degree lobe center and .602" lift on the intake versus .575" on the exhaust.

This cam makes torque from 2600 to 6300 RPM and runs out of horsepower at 6500 but, the valve train is good to 7300! This combination should be good for 650 plus horsepower on pump gas normally aspirated. All this should bring E.T.'s of between 9.5 and 9.75 at 130 to 135 MPH in the quarter mile.

The front of the engine shows the use of a flat aluminum plate Aluminum Mounting Plate for mounting the remote belt drive water pump and alternator.

The three section front engine cover Interior Short can be seen in place here. The first shot  shows the covers in place against the seat backs. In this shot the seats Engine Cover Panels are moved forward. This shot Engine Cover shows the end panels removed. In this shot all the  Engine Cover panels are removed giving access to the front of the engine.

Looking through the rear window  Rear Plexiglas Window you can see the bulkhead plus the slot molded in to the upper part of the Plexiglas to assist in the removal of hot air from the engine compartment.

Looking at the interior here we can see the foot well extension Foot Well Extension which adds to the leg room. Also, the end attachment of the sub frame welded to the inner wheel well is visible.

In what was formally the engine compartment we see Rear Drive Assembly the installed and boxed quick change rear drive assembly and dual Flowmaster mufflers.

The automatic transmission is a Power Glide with a 2600 RPM stall converter rated for 1000 HP!

The quick change differential Evans Big Block is a ADELLC modified Winters unit.
