1965 Corsa Crown Conversion
Lane's silver car has probably the nicest set of tasteful
louvers
yet seen on a Corvair. They are functional cooling outlets for the
radiator, ala Ferrari style.
The engine in Lane's Vair is a 327 Chevy small block with HEI
ignition and Jet Hot Coated Crown headers
exiting through a set of Borla mufflers. The air cleaner inlet is
attached to a stock Corvair oil bath air cleaner mounted to the side.
The interior is stock except for the Crown seat unit and top
engine cover
with black carpeting and seat inserts. There is enough room for a stock
wood rim steering wheel also. A fire extinguisher has been installed
beside the driver. Something we all should have in our cars.
The cooling system is up front in the Crown mode with a vertical
cross flow radiator ducted in front from under the bumper air inlet
opening.
Along with the hood louvers, there is a cut out behind the radiator in
front of the stock gas tank which has been removed in favor of a Mustang
gas tank mounted in the old engine compartment, now the trunk.
A set of Tilton master cylinders operate the brakes and hydraulic throw
out clutch bearing. The expansion tank was made by Lane.
The suspension has Clarks HD springs and KYB shocks.

The wheels are nice spoke look custom units
with
gold centers and polished rims.
The car has a nice stance with the Z28 spoiler under the chin.
