Autocross Information

No matter what Corvair you are in, there is a place for you in the Autocross. Friday, June 30 will be the 2017 convention autocross at the MCC Precision Driving Center located just a few minutes from the convention host hotel. This is where local law enforcement is trained for performance and emergency driving. The Kansas City Region of the SCCA uses this track for its autocross events.

The course will be setup on the part of the facility that has several concrete pads connected by roads, with grassy areas between them. It has a couple of curves that make for a nice long sweeper. For anyone with a fear of getting lost in a sea of cones you should not be concerned. The layout of the facility lends itself to setting up a course that is easy to follow. Our goal is to eliminate as many DNF’s as we can to allow the competitors to decide the winners by speed.

To encourage new participants we will award a trophy to the man and woman who are participating in their first autocross who finish nearest the top in their respective classes.

We will have a pre-tech inspection on Thursday afternoon so that when we get to the site on Friday we can get to racing on time! There will be tech available on Friday morning also. There will be food available on site and we will be using the SCCA Kansas City Region’s timing and scoring equipment, which we hope will make for a smooth, professional event.

Food vendors will be on site but there are no bleachers and no shade. Remember to bring a chair, a hat and sunscreen. Shelters can be put up but they must be staked or tied down to weights.

Please read the CORSA National Autocross Rules so that you know how to class your car, then register for the autocross and get ready to race!
